The Buffalo County Youth Advisory Board sponsored the Sunday, Jan. 10 Tri-City Storm hockey game against Cedar Rapids as a part of their "Take A Stand" campaign
funded by a 2009 Governor's Safe and Drug Free Communities Grant.
As a part of their sponsorship and to create awareness of their message, several youth participated in the first
intermission game: "Build a Burger." Accompanied by Deputy Chad Hunt, the youth took the ice and presented their message, two out of three Buffalo County students choose not to engage in alcohol use.
The youth also partnered with two of the Storm players, Maxwell Tardy and Jaden Schwartz, for a poster which was given to every fan that attended the game. The players were also available following the game for an autograph session. They will also be traveling to local schools in January to share the message, Take a Stand.
