As the 2010 Annual Fund Campaign chairs for Buffalo County Community Partners, we would like to share our perspective of this organization:

2010 Campaign Committee:

Buffalo County Community Partners is hosting a Town Hall Meeting for the Kearney community on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, 12-1 p.m. at the Yanney Heritage Park, Environmental Resource Center.

The 2nd Annual Join the Movement! Community Challenge will kick off at Walk Out On Your Job on Wednesday, May 19 and run through July 31.

The 2010 challenge list includes many of the popular challenges from last year, and adds some new activities in Buffalo County.

Challenges include planting and maintaining a garden, playing disc golf, jumping rope and climbing Gottschalk Tower.

Registration is free on the Activate Buffalo County website.

More than 25 community members from Gibbon, Kearney, Pleasanton, Ravenna and Sumner-Eddyville-Miller attended a workshop, held by Activate Buffalo County and Buffalo County Community Partners on Monday, April 19.

Community Partners presented a $500 grant to the Kearney Family YMCA for Healthy Kids
Day 2010, and is requesting proposals from Buffalo County collaborations for 2010 grants.

In April, Buffalo County Community Partners welcomed Ivan Klein, representing the Buffalo County Board of Supervisors, and Suzanne Brodine, representing the City of Kearney, to the Community Partners Board of Directors.

The Buffalo County Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is seeking applications from youth in grades 7-12 in Buffalo County.

Mark Fenton, keynote speaker and workshop facilitator. Activate Buffalo County, with Wellness Works, will host a morning workshop on Monday, April 19, 2010, 8:30-10:30 a.m., and an awards lunch and presentation, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. “Taking Steps to a Healthier Generation,” will feature planning and transportation consultant and author Mark Fenton.

The Responsible Beverage Servers Coalition has set training dates for the Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS) classes for April-June:
