The Diabetes Information and Referral Fair took place November 3 at the YMCA. The doors were open to the public to come and gain valuable local resources on ways to control and maintain their pre-diabetes or diabetes. The fair would not have been possible without donations from CHI Health Good Samaritan and Kearney Regional Medical Center.

A participant at the event said, “This fair has the best information all in one place.”

Physicians Dr. Ghosh and Dr. Aubeelauck, were available during the day to answer participants’ questions at the Clinic Corner.

Dr. Aubeelauck said, “I feel it is my duty to share the importance of what really watching what you’re doing and doing lifestyle changes that will make a significant impact later on. The earlier you do it, the better it is.”

Chef Dana Herbert, winner of TLC’s Cake Boss, cooked for the participants while teaching them about healthy recipes. He cooked a broccoli mac and cheese and a chicken dish. The participants were very pleased to be able to ask questions to Chef Dana and hear how he keeps a balanced diet coming from a family with many members who have Diabetes.
